Grants Pass Golf Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Grants Pass, Oregon.
The original vision for Grants Pass Golf Club began in 1946 when eleven local businessmen and golfers got together to discuss their desire for a golf course. Following the purchase of what was a horse ranch, the original members helped clean, burn and seed. In 1948, after considerable financial and physical support, they were able to play on their new 9-hole course. On occasion, they were even given the honor of mowing greens and fairways before playing! A couple descendents of these original members remain avid members and golfers today. Many of these people remained committed to their dream and were instrumental in acquiring the land necessary to add nine holes. Bob E. Baldcock and Robert L. Baldcock retained and redesigned four of the original 9 holes and built an additional fourteen, making this an eighteen hole course. Grants Pass Golf Club became a full 18-hole course in 1972.
History says the original stock approval accommodated only 200 members. Following the completion of the second nine holes, the membership was increased to 450. This is a semi-private course, opened to the public.
This is a challenging par 72, surrounded by tranquil landscapes and stunning views. The most difficult hole is #14, a 366-yard, par 4, with water hazards that come into play on both sides of the fairway. With warm sunny days and mild winters, this course plays well year-round.
This medium-length layout features 4 sets of teeboxes for the enjoyment of golfers of all skill levels. The course plays to 6,425 yards. The course rating is 71.5 and the slope rating is 131.
