Whispering Woods Golf Course first opened for play in 1972. the course was designed by Ellis Maples.
Dan Maples, son of Ellis and renowned golf course architect in his own right, described Whispering Woods this way: "It is a golf course designed with the average player in mind, but good players won't find a pushover. The condition of the course enhances the design and complements the land. Golfers experience left to right, short shots, long shots, uphill and downhill holes. And the quick bent grass green will keep you honest."
Par for the course is 70. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,324 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5063 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 537 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 151 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 436 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Whispering Woods Golf Course is # 11, a 184 yard par-3.
