Lake Lure Municipal Golf Course is a Public 9 hole golf course located in Lake Lure,North Carolina.
Originally opened in 1927, the course was built in the “GOLDEN AGE” of golf course design. Donald Ross is said to have designed the original 18-hole layout. Due to the financial struggles of the late 1920’s only the existing 9 holes were completed.
The log cabin style clubhouse was built as a WPA project in the mid-1930’s and survives today as another reminder of times past.
The special allure at Lake Lure Golf Club is that it is from a simpler time but provides a strong challenge, full of enjoyment for golfers of all skill levels.
Par for the course is 36. From the back tees, the course plays to 2,688 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 2,046 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 453 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 110 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 9, a 386-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Lake Lure Municipal Golf Course is # 5, the 110 yard par-3.
