Detailed description
Balmoral Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Battle Lake, Minnesota.
p A classic since 1961, Balmoral Golf Course has been a favorite of residents and visitors to the Ottertail Lake Area for 50 years. The course sits on the southeast side of Ottertail Lake in west central Minnesota. Balmoral is in the heart of Ottertail County, home to over 1,000 of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes.
p Balmoral Golf Course first opened for play in 1961. The course was designed by Arnold Hemkuist.
p This course has many oak, pine, and fir trees lining its fairways, plus they are defined by a standard cut of rough. The large greens are fast and somewhat sloped, and water hazards come into play on nine holes. The terrain is hilly, but the course is still easy to walk. There is at least one sand bunker per hole, and since there are so many trees on this course the wind is rarely a factor.
p The Par 72 layout is defined by great greens and the variety of shots golfers encounter over 18 holes of tree lined fairways. From the back tees the course plays to 6,280 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to 5,195 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 16, a par-5 that plays to 540 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 145 yards from the back tees.
p Watch out for # 16, the 540 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at the Balmoral Golf Course is # 2, the 145 yard par-3.
