Detailed description

Hound Ears Club is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Boone , North Carolina.

Hound Ears Club first opened for play in the spring of 1964. The course was designed by George Cobb. The course was later revised by Tom Jackson.

This course has water hazards coming into play on nine holes. The greens are relatively slow, and the fairways are tree lined. Guests must be accompanied by a club member in order to play the course. However, registered guests of the lodge have full access to the course. Hound Ears is a resort, community with overnight accommodations near Blowing Rock, Boone and Banner Elk, and you need to be a guest to play golf here. The development is named after dog-eared-looking rock formations in a mountain ridge above the course.

Hound Ears has tree-lined fairways, some extremely narrow. The front nine is the most difficult with tight fairways and elevation change while the back is over the valley floor, then moving up into the forest

Hound Ears plays to a par-72 and a maximum distance of 6,327 yards. The course rating is 69.4 with a slope rating of 122.
