Corning Country Club

Corning Country Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Corning, New York.

Corning Country Club golf course opened for play in 1919. The course was designed by Tom Winton.

Members and guests enjoy the 18-hole golf course at the Corning Country Club for its excellent condition and interesting layout. Golfers find the compact layout easy to walk and often prefer walking over using riding carts that are available at the Pro Shop.

Players find the course a good test of golfing ability because of tight fairways, changes in elevation and small, undulating greens. Fairway traps and greenside bunkers are strategically placed to challenge the player's skill.

Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,310 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,536 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 551 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 153 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 2, a 442 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 17, a 339 yard par-4.

Corning Country Club hosted the LPGA Tour's Corning Classic each year. from 1979 through 200.

The LPGA Tour's Corning Classic was one of the longest running tournaments on the LPGA Tour and the longest with a single sponsor. The title sponsor since the beginning was Corning Incorporated, an American manufacturer of glass, ceramics and related materials, primarily for industrial and scientific applications.

On April 20, 2009, the Classic's title sponsor, Corning Incorporated, announced it would not be able to sponsor the tournament after the 2009 tournament. The tournament's executives confirmed that efforts to secure additional sponsors had been unsuccessful and that the tournament would not continue after 2009.
