Dismal River Golf Course is an 18-hole private golf course located in Mullen, Nebraska.
Dismal River Golf Club course The White Course first opened for play in 2006. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course is located in North-Central Nebraska about 60 miles Northwest of North Platte, Nebraska.
The Dismal River Club rolls through the natural terrain of Nebraska's Sandhills. Located in the north-central region of the state, the celebrated Dismal River Club is the Golden Bear's first course in Nebraska. The White Course was ranked among Golfweek's BEST NEW COURSES list in 2007, this private golf club offers the purest form of links-style golf that truly reflects Nicklaus' philosophy of creating courses that blend with the native elements of their surroundings. Dismal River also features elevated tees that provide panoramic views of the Dismal River Valley, once home to thousands of roaming bison. Nicklaus chose the best 220 acres of this 4,000 acre tract for the 7,433-yard, par-72 track. The golf course's general design is traditional, but with cutting-edge technology. The porous sands of the plains, coupled with the massive Ogallala aquifer, make a winning combination for growing turf - here, fescue fairways and rough and bent grass greens. Only one percent of that acreage - in fact, one hole - was touched by a bulldozer. The course's rustic charm is defined by its windswept bunkers, natural contours and ruggedly beautiful terrain.
Though located thousands of miles from either the Pacific or Atlantic oceans, the rolling, grass-covered dunes accurately mimic the seaside links of Scotland and Ireland.
To enhance the secluded feel and pure golf experience, all vertical structures, including the clubhouse, cabins, and houses are hidden from the course.
