Pioneers Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Pioneers Golf Course first opened for play in 1932. This par-71 course was designed by M.W. Tucker. The course, which was originally constructed as a 27-hole facility, was later reduced to its current 18-hole layout and is Lincoln's oldest municipal golf course. It is of championship length and has undergone several renovations, upgrades, and modernizations since its initial development. Built over 70 years ago, the course has had time to mature into what Golf Digest called one of the "Best places to play" in 2004.
Pioneers Golf Course is one of five Lincoln City Golf Courses. The Lincoln City Golf Courses have a long and successful history of providing golfing opportunities to the citizens of Lincoln and the surrounding area. The courses are Pioneers Golf Course, Holmes Park Golf Course, Mahoney Golf Course, Highlands Golf Course, and The Jim Ager Golf Course.
All Lincoln City Golf Courses are open to the public 362 days a year with the exception of the Ager Golf Course, which is open April 1st through October 31st. At times, any of the five courses may have a special event scheduled, which may affect the availability of the course for play. Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,478 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,871 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 524 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 143 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 452 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Pioneers Golf Course is # 16, a 159 yard par-3.
