Detailed description

Oakland Hills Golf Club is a Public 18 holes golf course located in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Oakland Hills Golf Club first opened for play in 1972.The course was designed by George V. Nickolaou.

Oakland Hills has a narrow front nine and a more open back nine. Many holes are tree lined, and the fairways are bordered with a standard cut of rough. Water hazards come into play on thirteen holes. The terrain is rolling, and the huge greens are undulating, their speeds are determined by the seasonal weather conditions.

The old clubhouse has history. The club house is an 1860's country mansion reportedly used during just prior to and during the Civil War as an Underground Railroad stop. The club house also served as a safe-house for Al Capone and his Chicago gang during the 1920's.  In the final years before construction of the golf club, the picturesque house, built in the Italianate style was home to a family of dairy farmers.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,631 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,517 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 595 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 14, a par-3 that plays to 105 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 409-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 7, a 300 yard par-4.

The signature hole is #6, a 165-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over a pond to an undulating green.
