Oak Hill Country Club had its beginning in 1917, when a few golf enthusiasts secured Rose Farm, and during the next three years purchased adjacent property.
The golf course was laid out in the spring of 1919 by Wayne E. Stilesand built under his supervison during that year and 1920. The course was open for play July 4, 1921, and the Clubhouse officially opened Labor Day of the same year.
In the year 1925, additional land was secured on the eastern side of Oak Hill Road, and during the years of 1926 and 1927, the second nine holes were added, completing the course. This addition was built under the direction of Donald Ross. The new nine holes were formally opened on July 30, 1927, when Tommy Armour and Johnny Farrell gave an exhibition.
