Detailed description

Shelbyville Country Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

Shelbyville Country Club first opened for play in 1933. The course was designed by Buck Blankenship. Updates and reconfigured holes were added to the design in 1974. The designer handling this project was Ben Wihry.

The signature "horseshoe" lake provides the foundation for the original 1934 course design. Shelbyville Country Club lies in the rolling hills of Shelby County and takes the golfer on a tour through a mature tree landscape. This course places a true value on shot accuracy versus distance off the tee.

This is a fairly tight course. The fairways are heavily tree lined, and with the exception of two holes, play straightaway. This course has only a few greenside bunkers.

#8, a 547-yard, par 5, is considered the most difficly hole requiring a tee shot up a dogleg left fairway, then an approach shot past a lake on the left side of the green and a large bunker on the right.

Shelbyville Country Club plays to a maximum distance of 6,331 for a par of 72 with a course rating of 70.2 and a slope rating of 122.
