Auburn Hills Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Wichita, Kansas.
Auburn Hills Golf Course is one of 5 City of Wichita municipal golf courses. The city courses are: L.W. Clapp Golf Course, Tex Consolver Golf Course, MacDonald Golf Course, Arthur B. Sim Golf Course and Auburn Hills Golf Course.
The newest City course, Auburn Hills, opened for play on May 24, 2001. This Perry Dye designed course is one of the finest municipal courses in the region. It offers a combination of play through scenic wetlands areas and corridor golf through a new upscale residential development.
The Auburn Hills project was approved by the Wichita City Council in December 1996. Construction on the course began in the fall of 1998, with the course completed in the fall of 2000. The clubhouse was started in 2000 and completed in early 2001.
The course represents a public/private partnership, with the planned development of nearly 800 houses surrounding the course.
The course was designed by Dye Designs, International, based in Denver, Colorado. The company is lead by Perry Dye, who spearheaded the design work at Auburn Hills. The third generation firm has designed over 200 courses throughout the world.
The course challenges you with 62 sand traps and 14 lakes. The golf course was designed with 5 sets of tees per hole to offer everyone an opportunity to play to their skill levels. The course features Bentgrass Greens that average 7500 sq ft., Zoysia grass fairways and Bermuda grass roughs and tees.
