Shepherd's Crook Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Zion, Illinois.
Shepherds Crook Golf Course first opened for play in 1999. The course was designed by Keith R. Foster.
Shepherds Crook Golf Course was built on Illinois farmland and partially over a landfill (just the first few holes). The open design offers unobstructed views of the rolling countryside. The wide, forgiving fairways are perfectly complimented by demanding greens, while the sloping, cupped putting surfaces create a formidable challenge. Two man-made lakes come into play on the course. This is a links course. Tall natural grass makes staying in the fairway crucial. There are a few small lakes that rarely come into play and a creek or two that are avoidable. Trees line the edges of the course as the rest is true to it's links feel
The links-style course creates a feeling of playing Ireland's Ballybunion or Waterville courses. Shepherd's Crook's design reflects the golden era of golf course architecture of the 1920's and 30's with bentgrass fairways, tees, and greens.
