The first noticeable feature of Sandy Hollow is the rolling terrain. Sand is found on most holes, as indicated by the name. The bunkers are well taken care of, giving golfers the ability hit good shots while not being expert bunker players.

Sandy Hollow Golf Course offers golfers the opportunity to score well. Its relatively short length and unprotected landing areas, compared to today’s newer courses, make it possible to hit driver and short irons. However, if you make a mistake, the recovery shot will test your creativity and ball striking skills to salvage the hole. Most every hole is lined on both sides with a thin line of tall, majestic trees.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6228 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5883 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 583 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 127 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 9, a 583 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Sandy Hollow Golf Course is # 11, a 127 yard par-3.

Sandy Hollow Golf Course's signature hole is number nine. the 583 yard par five that heads straight back to the clubhouse. Mix that hole with 220 and 191 yard par threes and your long game will be tested a couple times during the day. Then step up to the 283 yard par four tenth and you have the chance to drive the green, or play it safe and leave yourself with a full wedge from the fairway.

The one negative on the course is the greens. Your best bet is to play this course before the middle of July. Just as the leaves turn every fall, the greens at Sandy Hollow will take a turn for the worse late every summer. Decent tee boxes, nice fairways, playable yet present rough and maintained bunkers cant make up for the greens that will keep you guessing which way they’ll bounce the ball.

This is a great course for all skill levels. Water only comes into play on hole #11, which requires a tee shot over a pond.
