Forest Hills Country Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Rockford, Illinois.
The course dates to 1921. The course architect was Charles Maddox. In 1989 the course was redesigned by Bob Lohmann.
This traditional "U.S. Open" style course was built on hilly terrain and is lined with maple, oak, willow, and evergreen trees. The greens are medium-sized, fast and sloping. A level lie is a rare occurrence on this course.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,650 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,319 yards.
# 1. This challenging 393 yard par 4. It is a slight dog leg right with a difficult approach shot to an uphill green.
# 4. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 168 yards from the back tees.
# 7. Watch out for # 7, a 392 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course.
# 8. This 202 yard par 3 has the largest green on the course (plays like two individual greens), and is protected by five bunkers. If the ball doesn’t land on the flagstick side of the green, plan on making a three-putt.
# 9. At 601 yards, this par 5 is the longest hole on the course. It is tree lined with two major changes in elevation, and it is the only hole without a bunker.
# 10. Your drive starts out of a tree lined shoot on the toughest short par 4 on the course. Two tall trees pinch the fairway, and a precise approach shot is needed to hit the elevated green which slopes sharply from back left to front right.
# 11. The 180 yard par 3 is downhill to a rolling green guarded by two right side bunkers and a pond that frames the green on the left.
# 12. The long hitters may reach the 540 yard par 5 in two if they hit left over the trees. Otherwise a good second shot is needed to position the approach shot to the downward sloping right to left well-bunkered green.
# 14. Trees and bunkers line this 539 yard par 5 that is not narrow but still difficult to reach in two. The elevated bunkered green slopes so severely that the approach shot and putt may end in a location which would surprise even the members.
# 15. The prettiest hole on the golf course is a 380 yard downhill par 4. There is a cascading waterfall, and a pond on the right that narrows the fairway and curves to the back of the green.
#17. This 401-yard, par 4, has a sharp dogleg left fairway, and an extremely small green that is sloped from back to front.
# 18. The tee shot on the beautiful 430 yard par 4 finishing hole must find the fairway between the big tree on the left and the fairway bunker on the right to determine whether the player has a chance to end the round with a birdie.
