Willow Pond Golf Course is a Public, 18 hole golf course located on Rantoul, Illinois.
Willow Pond Golf Course first opened for play in 1952. The course was designed by Brent Wadsworth.
This course is situated on the former Chanute Air Force Base a closed United States Air Force facility, located south of and adjacent to Rantoul, Illinois, about 130 miles south of Chicago. The base closed in 1993. Many of the old hangers are still standing and are visible from some of the holes.
The course is very picturesque with numerous mature trees lining the fairways. Water hazards come into play on five of the eighteen holes. Every green has a slight break to it, which makes precise putting important. The signature hole is #4, a 251-yard, par 3, which calls for a tee shot into the wind to an elevated green
Golfers who play the long game will like the course. The front nine, which has a par of 37, is 3,736 yards, one of the longest nines in Central Illinois. The back nine has a par of 35 and is only 3,049 yards.
