Detailed description

Oakwood Country Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Coal Valley, Illinois.

In 1923, a nine-hole golf club calling named "Fair Acres" opened for play. This nine-hole club was nestled among the giant oaks of South Moline Township. By the year 1929, the club had grown to almost two hundred members and incorporated under the name "Oakwood Country Club."

The club remained at this location for almost 50 years until it became clear that Interstate 74 was to be built directly through the property. Land was purchased in Henry County in 1962 and construction of the current Oakwood Country Club Pete Dye designed 18-hole golf course began in June, 1965.

The "new course" opened for play on May 21, 1967. The Pete Dye design features tough par 4's, reachable par 5's, and green designs which will test your short game.

The undulating greens are difficult to read, and the spacious fairways are tree lined. Water hazards come into play a minimum of five times, most notably on hole #3, a 166-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot that must carry entirely over water to a large green.

There were significant changes made to the course in the late 70s when the club began its 24-year run hosting a PGA Tour event. The tees were moved back, bunkers were added and the driving range leveled, making it the finest practice facility in the Quad Cities.

Oakwood Country Club has been the host course for the Quad City Open, the Hardee's Golf Classic, the Quad City Classic, and the John Deere Classic.

Blue tees: par-71, 6,663 yards, course rating 72.2, slope rating 126.
White tees: par-71, 6,155 yards, course rating 69.7, slope rating 120.
Red tees: par-71, 5,204 yards, course rating 69.5, slope rating 116.
