Volcano Golf & Country Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in VOLCANO, Hawaii.
Volcano Golf Course, The Big Island's oldest golf course, opened for play in the 1920s and is set at 4,200 feet of elevation just a driver/wedge from the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The course is one of the world's most unusual courses. Situated on the rim of the active Kilauea volcanic crater, Volcano Golf Course lies in the cool highlands 4,000 feet above the sea, with sweeping vistas of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea (both snowcapped in winter). The course is 18 holes, par 72, a total of 6,547 yards of playing area. Located in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, a scenic 30-mile drive from Hilo; the course also offers full restaurant and bar facilities.
Crisp fresh air combining with the elevation delivers extra distance on well-struck shots even though cooler temperatures prevail. In the midst of stunning views of the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea volcanoes and between the pine and ohia trees is a delightful layout that offers more than a decent challenge. The back nine has several marvelous holes with one of Hawaii's best par-5s at the 17th Hole. Some say the most difficult hole on the course is #15, a 425-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot up a dogleg fairway with tall pines guarding the turn.
This is a par 72 course that plays to 6,547 yards from the blue tees, 6,190 yards from the whites and 5,567 yards from the red tee boxes.
