Sandpiper Golf Club

Sandpiper Golf Club, originally named Sun City Center South Course, is a Private, 27 hole golf facility located in Sun City Center, Florida, midway between Tampa and Sarasota. The facility has three 9-hole golf courses: The Lakes Course, The Oaks Course, and The Palm Course. These nines can be combined to form 3 different 18-hole combinations.

This 27-hole facility originally opened in 1968 with 18 holes designed by Mark Mahanna. Ron Garl, who designed all 27 holes at neighboring Falcon Watch, added the third nine, the Lakes, in 1985.

The Lakes Course has water that comes into play on four holes.  This course was named because it has the only natural lake in town.  The signature hole is #5, a 150-yard, par 3, which is set on a peninsula.

# 3 on the Lakes is a tough 389-yard par-4. There’s water off the tee and a very narrow landing area, followed by an uphill, blind second shot into the green. 

The  Palm Course has beautiful fairways with rolling terrain and trees coming into play throughout the course. The Palm Course   has small, mostly elevated greens.

#2 on the Palms is a challenging par-3. It measures 187 yards to an elevated green, with water on the right side and bunkers on both sides. 

The Oaks Course has water that comes into play on four holes and is very scenic.  The hardest hole of all the courses is #1 on the Oaks Course, a 510-yard, par 5, which is bunkered on both sides with very tough second and third shots.  

#9  on the Oaks provides a good chance for a birdie. this par-5 measures 488-yards with a generous landing area and a green that is accessible for those going for it in two. Or for most of us, a short third shot to the green that if left close enough to the hole can be one putt for birdie.

All three nines play to a par-36 and have four sets of tees ranging from 2,717 to 3,258 yards.
