Plantation Palms Golf Course is a semi-private 18-hole golf course located in Land O Lakes, Florida, just 10 minutes north of Tampa, Florida.
Plantation Palms Golf Course first opened for play in 2000. The course was designed by David Harman.
Plantation Palms is a links-style design that features many elevation changes with an attractive framing of greens by the use of pine trees, water, and large white sand traps. The links-style design starts with a welcoming par 5, and then slowly steps up with a mixture of strong par 3s. The course was carved a 400-acre citrus grove that slopes from west to east, providing interesting elevation changes. Water is in play on 17 of the 8 holes.
Blue tees: par-72, 6,735 yards
White tees: par-72, 6,240 yards
Gold tees: par-72, 5,790 yards
Red tees: par-72, 5,313 yards
The course closed in 2014 but reopened under new ownership in 2016
The course, in the 821-home community of the same name on the east side of Collier Parkway, closed in 2014 and was listed as a short sale for $1.2 million. On April 26, 2016, the U.S. Department of the Interior approved a $700,000 sale to Ace Golf, netting just less than $393,000 toward the debt that owner MJS Golf Group owed on the federally guaranteed note.
Bill Place, president of Ace Golf, said he expects repairs to the course to cost a minimum of $1.5 million. It's the same conclusion reached by a consultant hired by Plantation Palms property owners.
