University of Florida Golf Course, Mark Bostick Golf Course

University of Florida Golf Course is a Private 18 hole golf course located at the northwest corner of the University of Florida's Gainesville campus in Gainesville, Florida.

The course was designed by Donald Ross. It opened for play in 1921. The course was formerly the home of the Gainesville Country Club, and was acquired by the university in 1963. Contained within a 116-acre plot of land, the 6,701-yard, par-70 course is short by today’s golf standards. However, a $4 million renovation project in 2001 by Jacksonville-based architect Bobby Weed transformed the contour of the landscape, creating a course that is both physically and mentally challenging. Prior to weed's work,Ron Garl redesigned the course during the 1980's.

Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,701 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,119 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 3, a par-5 that plays to 578 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 145 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 5, a 453 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 17, a par-4 that measures 336 yards.

Mark Bostick Golf Course is a wide-open and hilly course with water hazards coming into play on several holes, and numerous sand bunkers incorporated into the design. The small greens are undulating and average speed, and many pine and oak trees line the fairways.
