CommonGround Golf Course is a public 18-hole golf course located in the Denver suburbs in Aurora, Colorado.
The course sits on the ground that was once The Lowery Air Force Base Golf Course. When the base close in 1994 the course became public and was renamed Mira Vista Golf Course. The course closed in 2007.
The old course was bulldozed and a new course created on the previous course location. The new course, CommonGround Golf Course opened in 2009. The course was designed by Tom Doak.
The layout is a parkland/links mixture. The course started with traditional. They want to encourage walking. They want to attract youngsters just learning the game with a $5 Kids Course (par-3 nine holes), partly funded by a $175,000 grant from the United States Golf Association. Adults can only play it if accompanied by a youngster.
The course is near the Denver metro area, but sits on land which makes it feel non-urban. And of course the views of the downtown skyline and the Rocky Mountains can be spectacular.
