Lakewood Country Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Lakewood, California, next to the Long Beach Airport, easily accessible from the 605, 405 and 5 freeways.
The course opened for play in 1933. The course was designed by William P. Bell.
With an abundance of new sand bunkers and several par 3's that play well over 200 yards, this 18 hole, 7,045-yard championship course was voted Los Angeles County Course of the Year in 2005 and 2012.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 7,045 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,920 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 554 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 181 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 453 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 15, a 363 yard par-4.
The greens are large. Numerous trees lining the fairways, and two lakes come into play on seven holes. The signature hole is #12, a 227-yard, par 3, requiring an approach shot over water to a rather small, undulating green.
