Detailed description

Anchorage Golf Course, located in Anchorage, Alaska is a very scenic 18-hole public golf course built on hilly terrain. The course is located on the lower hillside of South Anchorage. The course frames the magnificent views of the Chugach Mountain Range, the Anchorage city skyline, Cook Inlet and Denali (or Mt. McKinley) AKA "The Great One". McKinley is the highest point in North America rising to 20,320 feet.

The course first opened for play in 1987. The course was designed by Bill Newcomb.

The fairways are tree lined, and the small greens are fast. Water hazards come into play on five holes. If your shot accuracy is off, you can easily get in scoring trouble.

The Golf Season at AGC runs mid-May to mid-October.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6616 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4848 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 14, a par-5 that plays to 590 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 151 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 4, a 434 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 13, a 225 yard par-3.
